Excitement is in the air…Friends of Chinook School are having Oktoberfest after a two-year hiatus! We are preparing the best fundraising event ever…all we need is YOU!
This year we have a new chef, Vinessa Karnofski owner of Coastal Catering and winner of the 2018 Long Beach Clam Fritter Cookoff!! A local favorite, Vinessa has served up delectable dinners for many non-profits in the area including the Rotary, Ocean Beach Education Foundation, and Peninsula Poverty Response. For our Oktoberfest, she will be serving German pork Schnitzel and Braised Caraway cabbage with brown butter sauce and roasted root vegetable penne. Joining Vinessa in the kitchen will be Vera Karnofski, the owner of Bio Charm Farm in Ilwaco. She will be serving her beautiful mixed-green salad. Yum, is your mouth watering yet?! The cost for adults is $40 and children under 12 are free.
We are delighted to announce that Brian O’Connor will be performing on our stage, accompanied by Ted Brainard on bass, and George Coleman on bouzouki. Brian is one of those singers “born with a golden voice,” as Leonard Cohen would say. Ted and George perform often with Brian and are extraordinary musicians. You won’t want to miss this show!
Because no Oktoberfest would be complete without a beer garden, of course, we will have one. Enjoy locally brewed beer while listening to great tunes from other local musicians as well as Brian and his band.
Adding fun and excitement, there will be many wonderful silent and live auction items to bid on.
This is our major fundraiser of the year, and the funds are needed now more than ever. Please, join your friends and neighbors at the Historic Chinook School on October 8th for an evening of extraordinary food, music, and celebration of community!
We look forward to seeing you there!
